How Brandt HVAC Co Jacksonville Was Born in Jacksonville
Devin Marlowe didn’t move to Jacksonville to start an HVAC company. He moved here because his wife’s job brought them south, and he spent the first year doing what a lot of transplants do: learning which bridges to avoid at 4 p.m., figuring out that “the Beaches” means something specific here, and discovering that Jacksonville homeowners talk to each other. A lot.
What he kept hearing, at block parties in San Marco and in line at the hardware store in Riverside, was the same story with different details. Someone’s AC went out in August. They called a company. A technician showed up late, or didn’t show, or showed up and gave a quote that doubled by the time the work was done. The common thread wasn’t the heat. It was the feeling of being handled. People weren’t angry about the price as much as they were angry about the surprise.
Devin had been in the trade long enough to know that the work itself wasn’t the problem. The problem was how the work got sold. So when the opportunity came to bring Brandt HVAC to Jacksonville, he didn’t think of it as opening a branch. He thought of it as fixing the part of the industry that made his neighbors cynical. The brand already had the standards: written pricing before any work starts, verified technicians, a guarantee that actually means something. Jacksonville needed that. Not another truck with a clever logo. A company that shows up like it said it would.
Devin Marlowe’s Personal Connection to the HVAC Trade
Devin’s first real memory of what HVAC work felt like came before he ever touched a compressor. He was a teenager, standing in a hot garage in a Florida summer, watching a technician kneel in front of a condenser unit that had been dead for three days. The homeowner stood in the doorway with a baby on her hip, sweating and trying not to look worried. The tech worked quietly for about twenty minutes, then stood up, wiped his hands, and told her it was running. The sound of that air handler kicking on was like a door opening in a stuffy room.
That stuck with Devin, though he wouldn’t have said so at the time. What he noticed later, after years of riding along and learning the trade, was that the best days weren’t the easy ones. They were the ones where someone called scared because the heat was climbing and the kids couldn’t sleep, and he got to be the person who made it stop. There’s a moment when a system comes back to life and the whole house changes. The air moves. The tension drops. People exhale.
He’s seen every side of this work since. Crawlspaces in Atlantic Beach that flood with every nor’easter. Attics in Orange Park that hit 130 degrees by ten in the morning. Condenser units in Fleming Island that are coated in salt spray and pollen. None of that is glamorous. But Devin would tell you that what keeps him in it isn’t the equipment. It’s the relief on someone’s face when they realize the person who showed up actually knows what they’re doing and isn’t going to take advantage of them. If he weren’t doing this, he’d probably be doing something with his hands, building or fixing something. But he’d miss the part where a stranger opens their door and trusts you with their home. That part doesn’t get old.
Meet Devin Marlowe – The Person Behind Every Job
Devin Marlowe is the Owner & Founder of the Jacksonville location of Brandt HVAC. He came up through the trade the long way: riding along, watching, asking questions, and eventually running jobs himself. His training covers the full range of residential heating and cooling work, from routine maintenance to full system replacements, and he holds the licensing Florida requires for this trade.
What separates him from a franchise technician who’s just passing through isn’t a certificate. It’s that this is his community now. He knows which Jacksonville neighborhoods have older ductwork that leaks, which beach houses fight salt corrosion, and which historic homes in Riverside need creative solutions to modern comfort problems. He’s not clocking in from somewhere else. When you call, the person who shows up is someone who lives with the same humidity you do.
Outside of work, Devin is a dad who coaches youth soccer, and he’s usually the first one on the block to fire up a smoker on a Saturday. He’s also the kind of person who will tell you, straight, if a repair is worth making or if you’re better off replacing the system. That directness carries into every job. He stands behind the work he does because his name is on it. If it’s not right, he’ll make it right.
Our Promise to Jacksonville Homeowners
Our promise starts with a number in writing. Before any work begins, you get a price. Not an estimate that might change, not a range that creeps upward. A written number. That’s a Brandt HVAC standard, and Devin enforces it on every job because he’s been on the other side of the phone call where the final bill didn’t match what was discussed. It’s the fastest way to lose trust, and trust is the whole point.
We use quality parts because cheap parts fail, and a failed part in July means a callback that could have been avoided. And we stand behind every job. If something isn’t right, we come back and fix it. That’s not a slogan. It’s how we’ve decided to operate in Jacksonville, and it’s the only way Devin is willing to run a business.
Our Credentials
- State-licensed – every pro working under our name is required to hold the license Florida requires for HVAC work.
- Insured & bonded – coverage is in place as required, so you’re protected when someone is working in your home.
- Years of local experience – Devin has spent more than a decade working in Jacksonville’s specific climate, from Riverside bungalows to Ponte Vedra Beach custom homes.
- Threshold Verified background checks – every technician is background-checked and identity-verified before they ever wear the uniform.
Here’s why these matter: when someone works in your home, you’re not just hiring a skill set. You’re letting a stranger into your house, often when you’re alone or your kids are home. A license means the person knows the code and the craft. Insurance means you’re not on the hook if something goes wrong. And a background check means the person standing at your door is who they said they were. These aren’t nice-to-haves. They’re the minimum of what you deserve. Every homeowner who opens their door to a technician is taking a small leap of faith, and our job is to make that leap as short as possible.
Rooted in Jacksonville
We service homes from Yulee to St. Augustine, from Green Cove Springs out to the beaches, and we know the difference between a Neptune Beach beach cottage and a Middleburg property on well water. Devin’s kids go to school here. He’s sat through Jags games in the heat and complained about the bridges like everyone else. This isn’t a territory. It’s home. And when your AC goes out on a Sunday in July, you want someone who knows exactly what that feels like, because they live it too.
